Oliver Downes
Oliver Downes blends instantly hummable melodies with athletic keyboard playing and thought-provoking lyrics. Packing ‘soaring melodies and sharp wit in equal measure’ (Tone Deaf), his debut album Ultraviolet (2016) took a leaf from artists such as Ben Caplan and Kate Bush to offer a sweet blend of dreamy ballads and exhilaratingly kinetic tunes. Joined by Joshua Kreusler (electric guitar) and Jack Towers (drums), expect a high-definition musical passage through the darkness into the light.
Singer-songwriter Imogen Pemberton mesmerises with lush vocals, aching melodies and sophisticated finger picking. Offering songs from her debut EP Spine (2016), as well as road-testing a swag of new material ahead of recording her debut album in January, Imogen offers folk ballads that are haunting, heartfelt and raw. Together with tour-mate Oliver Downes on cello, she conjures soundscapes of startling organic purity to break the heart and nourish the soul.
