Melbourne Spoken Word presents Bill Moran

Melbourne Spoken Word is excited to bring you back Texan poet, Bill Moran, following previous tours of Australia. Bill has been a regular guest of Melbourne Spoken Word over the years, and the starting point for MSW hosting international spoken word artists. He also one of the most original and unique voices in spoken word at the moment. His 2018 Australian tour is not to be missed.

BILL MORAN is a performance poet from Houston, TX. He is a two-time Austin Poetry Slam Champion, and has an MFA Poetry degree from Louisiana State University. He has toured regularly since 2011, performing and teaching throughout Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia, and the US. His work has been featured on Button Poetry, University of Hell Press, Alien Mouth, Pressure Gauge Press, and Phoebe. He currently lives and works in Houston as a teaching artist for Writers in the Schools, and his solo debut book 'Oh God Get Out Get Out' is now available through Write Bloody Publishing.

TENDA MCFLY is a rapper and spoken word poet living and working in Melbourne. His material is mesmerizing and thought-provoking, offering a youthful intelligence that is representative of both his life experience and his generation. Tenda McFly is this year's Slamalamadingdong's Grand Slam Champion. His most recent project is titled Memoirs.

ANISA NANDAULA is the 2016 Queensland poetry slam champion, the runner up Australian poetry slam champion and nationally renowned poet. This published poet has performed her work at festivals around the country such as the Queensland poetry festival, Townsville Multicultural festival, Women of the world festival and African Australian film festival. Her unique and captivating exploration of identity and politics has been showcased at the Sydney Opera house, Slama Lama ding dong in Melbourne and Adelaide writers center. Her combination performance, engaging use of language and profound ideas can capture the heart of any audience. She is a published author releasing her debut collection titled Melanin Garden

SCOTT WINGS (Scott Sneddon) is a performance artist with a highly physical, poetic lineage. He is a passionate and consistent curator of shows, collaborations and host of events that embolden people and spaces including Art Party and Ruckus Slam Melbourne. Scott’s performance and writing credits include: Poetic Threads, commissioned by Red Room and The National Art Gallery Of NSW; Whiplash at Dancehouse (VIC), The Butterfly Club (VIC), Jungle Love Festival (QLD) and Underground Arts Festival (QLD); Yum Lab development residency atf Metro Arts’ (QLD) ; Food Fight live art performance with Chai Vivan (Malaysia); Nightlight Physical theatre with The Haque Centre of Acting and Creativity (Singapore); and 1 Table 2 Chairs Series with The Theatre Practice (Singapore). Scott’s work has been presented at The Edinburgh, Adelaide, Perth World and Melbourne Fringe Festivals; Melbourne Comedy Festival; and independently in spaces both site-specific and traditional theatres across the world. Scott currently lectures in drama at Melbourne University, Trinity College.

LANIYUK was born of a French mother and a Larrakia, Kungarrakan and Gurindji father. Her poetry and short memoir often reflects the intersectionality of her cross cultural and queer identity. She was fortunate enough to contribute to the book Colouring the Rainbow: Blak Queer and Trans Perspectives as well as winning the Indigenous residency for Canberra's Noted Writers Festival 2017. Laniyuk received Overland’s Writers Residency for 2018 as well as being shortlisted for Overland’s 2018 Nakata-Brophy poetry prize.
