Blues Rock project Champagne Jacket hosts its first headline gig, in the cosy and immaculately acoustic Bar 303 in Northcote. Joined by the soothing grooves of Lostii and the vibe-bringing Damn Fine Chai, a rared up line up will unleash that pent up 2021 creative energy into a hopeful 2022. Start your Fridays as you mean to go on with some local musicians on the rise.
Hot off the release of its debut single "Walls of China" in December 2021, Champagne Jacket is a Melbourne based 1 - 7 piece blues/rock collective centred around the songwriting of Jack Lewis. With dramatic folk and funk inflections, guitars intertwine with shimmering vocal harmonies and ponderous lyrics without a wasted word. With their lead guitarist in Europe (yeah like that makes sense right now... long story), they are joined by Tebs on saxophone for a reimagining of their climactic arrangements. And it sounds bloody good!
Discerning in choosing special guests, Champagne Jacket is joined by Lostii, a songwriting and production legend and one person show (check out her infectious singles on Spotify). Damn Fine Chai are new friends that the Champagne Jacket band couldn't stop dancing to at a recent gig, while gawping at the free flowing energetic exchange between band members on stage. It's gonna be a good one - we're excited.
