Dandelion Wine bring their lute and dulcimer driven electro-folk to 303! Having already sold out one of the Melbourne launch shows for their new “Hereafter” LP, Dandelion Wine have added one more show before heading off on their 10th European tour to play Festival Mediaval in Germany, the world’s largest festival of medieval inspired music.
Combining old folk instruments (lute, dulcimer, bell cittern, violin, flute, sansula), ethereal vocal harmonies and Persian frame drums with lush electronic beats and occasional outbursts of distorted guitar, Dandelion Wine’s music has been described as “the offspring of Dead Can Dance and Massive Attack” by SideLine magazine in Belgium. Their new album “Hereafter” features a more traditional medieval influence, albeit still with the band's idiosyncratic use of analogue synths and glitchy beats. Nestled among them are medieval and Shakespearean lyrics along with melodies from medieval, Celtic and Greek/Byzantine sources.
Joining them will be the harp/violin/guitar/vocal looping duo Morrigan & Wilding and the Surf Coast’s most enchanting solo artist Melody Moon.
Carly Wilding and Kylie Morrigan are a folk-fusion duo based in bayside Naarm (Melbourne). They combine Carly’s theatre and music background and Kylie’s classical and contemporary musical background and merge into a slightly mystical, slightly Celtic, slightly gothic and unique blending of voice and multi-instrumentation with all original songs.
With a voice that oscillates between soothing oms and powerful pop choruses, Melody Moon’s songs carry the listener deep into their feeling realm. The multi-instrumentalist creatively champions a re-connection with nature, bringing her collected samples from the environment she inhabits on the Surf Coast of Victoria onto the stage.
