8pm - Coco Browne

Coco Browne is an emerging jazz and contemporary pianist, specialising in free and textural music. Born and raised in Melbourne, Coco brings a fresh taste to the Australian jazz scene. She will be presenting original works inspired by artists such as Andrea Keller, Linda May Han Oh and Vijay Iyer while also preserving a sense of self unique to her music. Drawing inspiration from childlike wonder, she evokes a textural and expansive framework to explore with her ensemble. Playing alongside Coco will be Elly Blackham (tenor saxophone), Jack Smythe (double bass) and Alex Siderov (drums).

9pm - Claire Abougelis

Claire Abougelis is a jazz musician and composer based in Melbourne. She contributes her brand of understated yet energetic bass playing to many groups such as the Mia Barham Quintet, the Marley Del Prete Quintet, Nick Gregory’s Quartet Nouvelle, and local psych/jam band Aplegate. The Claire Abougelis Quartet plays Claire’s original compositions, characterised by melody and harmony that speak for themselves, and a willingness to explore textures outside of the norm. The Quartet features Audrey Hart on piano, Alex Birch on guitar, and Alex Siderov on drums.
