The fourth LUME residency is here! Featuring two incredible artists: Ashling O'Farrell and Elly Blackham
8pm - Ashling O'Trio
Ashling O’Trio is a dynamic ensemble made up of three exceptional musicians: Coco Browne, Clio Grieg, and led by trombonist and vocalist Ashling O’Farrell. Currently in her third year at the Victorian College of the Arts, Ashling studies under acclaimed trombonist Jordan Murray. This distinctive drumless trio draws deep inspiration from trailblazing Australian artists such as Shannon Barnett, Andrea Keller, and Kristin Berardi – with their freedom and spirit of improvisation. Ashling O’Trio invites listeners into a beautifully intimate space and are thrilled to share their music with you all.
9pm - Elly Blackham
Elly Blackham is an up-and-coming saxophonist in the Melbourne jazz scene. Specialising in contemporary jazz, her music is influenced by jazz luminaries such as Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek and Dexter Gordon, as well as artists closer to home such as Andrea Keller, Angela Davis and Sam Anning.
She will present a set of her original music, inspired by human emotion and love. She will be joined by Yael Marks (trumpet), Coco Browne (piano), Jack Dobson (bass), and Paddy Walter (drums).
LUME is a monthly residency at Bar 303 that features some of the most exciting emerging female and gender diverse musicians in Australian music scene.
