LUME /w Yasmin Leyre + Ffion Stoakes

  • 303 303 High Street Northcote, VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

LUME is back at Bar 303! Featuring vocalist Yasmin Leyre and cellist Ffion Stoakes.

Yasmin Leyre is an emerging vocalist from melb/naarm. Inspired by artists such as Kristen Berardi, Bjork and Esperanza Spalding; honesty and authenticity is at the forefront of her writing process. Being intrigued by the genres of jazz and folk, she is determined to take you on a musical journey of vulnerable lyricism and unexpected harmonic spaces. In this first live performance she will be joined by two members of her sextet, which recently recorded her first EP, set to be released in coming months.

Ffion Stoakes is a trans masc cellist based in Melbourne (Naarm), whose music blends both his jazz and classical training alongside bold sonic experimentation. Through inventive use of loop pedals, effects, and a deep exploration of the cello’s timbral range, Ffion pushes the instrument into new territory. His compositions and improvisations evoke immersive soundscapes that reflect and reimagine the textures and landscapes of Australia.
