8pm - GIrls Night In
Girl night in is an all female jazz collective that host a smorgasbord of performers. The group’s aim is to foster a supportive, inclusive space where female-identifying jazz musicians feel confident, heard, and creatively free. Girl night in’s constant flux of band members has fueled their expansive experimentation with sound. They’ve blended Nu Jazz and Folk creating a collaborative ensemble featuring vocals, guitar, bass, keys, drums, saxophone, strings and more. 9pm - Harper Dawson
Harper Dawson is a jazz saxophonist, improviser and composer from Melbourne with an affinity for lyrical playing and a love for collaborative music making. Her original compositions are grounded in melody, storytelling, and the search for beauty through simplicity. She draws inspiration from contemporary improvising composers such as Kenny Wheeler, Kika Sprangers and Sam Anning; blending Australian jazz with folk inspired melodies and European jazz influences. Harper studied a Bachelor of Music at Monash University, and was a finalist for the Monash University Jazz Prize in 2022 for her original composition Beguiling Beauty. She has performed with Sumire Kuribyashi (JAP), Iro Haarla (FIN), Vince Jones (AUS) and Helen Svoboda (AUS). In 2021 Harper was part of a Monash Sessions recording with Ingrid Jensen (USA). In 2026 Harper will complete an Honours in Jazz and Improvisation at the University of Melbourne.
