Keira J & the Mice are a jazz folk band scuttling around the Naarm scene, delivering heartfelt harmonies, and lovingly crafted, human songs. At a Mice show you’re sure to experience a luscious blend of genres spanning folk, jazz, and singer-songwriter elements, plus a splash of funk and dancey grooves. Marrying intricately thought out arrangements with playful improvisation, they concoct a uniquely captivating and immersive experience to be remembered.
They’re inspired by mouselike endeavours (such as cheese) but also artists like Nick Drake, Lake St Dive, Esperanza Spalding, and Norah Jones. Led by singer-songwriter and cellist Keira Murugasu, the band consists of Owen Wilkins (Guitar), Izzy Baker (Drums + Backing Vocals), Emiliano Treleani (Double bass), Sulia Van Sebille (Saxophone + Clarinet) and Giorgia Smith (Backing Vocals + Trombone); and now with Louis Monaghan on Keys, and even a cheeky Riley Brennan on Trumpet, The Mice are creating textures like never before.
Joined by heartfelt groovy jazz from Keets and the fearless funk of The Whyb, this is gig is not to be missed! Squeak!
