Liam Butler Webb 'Serrado' Single Launch

  • 303 303 High Street Northcote, VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

Butler Webb presents his debut release as a bandleader: Brazilian MPB legend Djavan’s ‘Serrado’, reimagined and recorded live to tape in Liverpool. This work represents the next step in his artistic trajectory, bringing together his influences in jazz and Brazilian music to establish a distinctive musical identity.

UK based Australian pianist Liam Butler Webb is recognised for his clarity of touch, technical precision, and strong grounding in jazz tradition. Influenced by figures such as Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal, he combines a firm blues foundation with a deep understanding of the bebop language. This jazz foundation has led Butler Webb to explore Brazilian music, which has become a defining element of his artistic voice. His imaginative reworking of the classics of samba-jazz, bossa nova, and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) transform the repertoire into a space for personal and distinctive musical expression.
